This Saturday Australia celebrates Australia Day in various ways, with many enjoying BBQ’s at the beach, in the backyard, or at community locations.
In and around the local area there are heaps of things to do, including family-friendly activities for all ages.
The annual Coolum Beach Australia Day at Tickle Park kicks off at 6:30am with the Lioness breakfast in the park and is a fun-filled day of entertainment, including the 12:00pm Australia Day Award ceremony, honouring outstanding local people for their efforts.
Marcoola Rocks is a popular annual event hosted by the Marcoola Surf Lifesaving Club, and kicks off with a fun run along the beach offering 2.5km, 5km, and 10km events; and is followed by a day of live music in the dunes, along with rides, great food, and entertainment, fireworks at 7pm, and a screening of Red Dog at the big screen in the park at 7:30pm.
There is also a Living in the 70’s event at the Coolum Bowls Club from 7:30pm. Put on those flares and get ready for some welcome doses of nostalgia as you dance the night away.
We will be closed on Monday January 28th for the Australia Day holiday.
